Becoming a Member at Forest Hill Church

Stepping into a covenant.

A Personal Invitation From Doc

Hear from Doc about why membership matters at Forest Hill Church and what it means to partner together as the body of Christ.

What Membership Means at Forest Hill

Membership is more than attending church. It’s a covenant, a commitment to God and to one another. At Forest Hill, that commitment shows up in four Marks of an Ambassador:

Believe in Jesus

Believe, be baptized, follow Him.

Our Commitment to One Another

Becoming a member means making a covenant—a sacred commitment to God and your church family to support Forest Hill’s mission and vision. In return, Forest Hill commits to support you as you grow in Christ and in authentic community.

As a member, I commit to:

  • Following Jesus as my Lord and Savior
  • Choosing community through a Life Group
  • Serving in the ministries and mission of the church
  • Investing my time, talent, and treasure, including faithful financial giving

Forest Hill commits to:

  • teaching God’s Word faithfully
  • shepherding and caring for you through our Elders and Deacons

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be baptized to become a member?

Yes! At Forest Hill Church, membership includes believer’s baptism, following a personal decision to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. If you haven’t been baptized yet, you can still register for and attend the Membership Summit. As part of becoming a member, you’ll commit to being baptized, and we’ll walk alongside you as you prepare to take this step.

Can I bring my spouse or family to the Summit?

Your spouse is welcome to attend with you and can complete a separate registration form. The Membership Summit is designed as an adult environment, and childcare is not provided. We encourage you to make whatever arrangements will allow you to participate fully. We’re so glad you’ll be joining us!

How often is Membership Summit offered?

We offer Membership Summit a couple of times a year. Please keep an eye on this website or our announcements for 2027 dates.

How is being a member different from regularly attending?

Membership is a mutual agreement to our doctrinal statements and a commitment to keep growing and taking next steps together. We ask our Life Group Leaders to be members because they own the mission, vision, and values at Forest Hill. They are on the front lines of equipping disciples of Jesus at our church. If you’re not yet a member, that won’t hold you back from leading. We simply ask that you commit to becoming a member at the next available Membership Summit. Those who are unwilling to commit to the requirements of covenant membership will not be able to serve as Life Group Leaders.

What is believer’s baptism?

Believer’s baptism is baptism that follows a personal decision to trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is an outward expression of an inward faith, a public declaration that you belong to Jesus, and a step of obedience to His command (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism doesn’t save you; we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). That’s why, at Forest Hill, faith comes first and baptism follows. We baptize by immersion, which symbolizes Christ’s death and resurrection and our new life in Him.

I was baptized as a believer, but by sprinkling or pouring. Do I need to be baptized again?

Yes. We teach and practice believer’s baptism by immersion because it is the biblical model. The Greek word baptizo means “to immerse,” and immersion pictures Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4). We’d love to walk with you toward believer’s baptism, and you can join now if you commit to being baptized.

Can I become a member before I’m baptized?

Yes. If you haven’t been baptized as a believer yet, you can still become a member when you commit to taking that step. We’ll help you take that step and walk alongside you as you prepare to be baptized.
